Supreme Court Monitoring Committee Member visits Kanpur
In response to a letter written to G.Thyagarajan, Chairman, Supreme Court Monitoring Committee (SCMC) on Hazardous waste and a Writ Petition filed with SCMC by Eco Friends, SCMC member Claude Alvares paid a preliminary one day visit to Kanpur on Sept. 18. Eco Friends took SCMC member to various hazardous waste dump-sites, CETP, STP and some hazardous industrial units in Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat. The SCMC member was accompanied by State Pollution Control Board, Nagar Nigam, Jal Sansthan and Jal Nigam officials.
